Cervical screening
Cervical Screening Tests help prevent cervical cancer by checking for human papillomavirus, or HPV. In Australia, women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 74 are generally invited to have a Cervical Screening Test every five years.
Your GP can discuss whether you are due for screening and whether clinician collection or self-collection is the best option for you.
Contraception and reproductive choices
Choosing contraception is personal, and the best option may change over time. Your GP can talk you through the available choices, including the pill, vaginal ring, injections, condoms, emergency contraception, Implanon and IUD options. In Victoria, Better Health notes that people can discuss contraception options with a GP or health nurse, and that different methods may suit different stages of life.
We can help you consider effectiveness, side effects, convenience, medical history, future pregnancy plans and personal preference.
Pregnancy planning and early pregnancy care
Your GP can support you before and during early pregnancy, including pre-conception advice, medication reviews, vaccination advice, blood tests, early pregnancy concerns and referral for pregnancy care. Healthdirect notes that a pre-pregnancy check may include discussion of medical history, vaccination history, lifestyle, blood tests, breast checks and cervical screening if appropriate.
Menopause and perimenopause
Perimenopause and menopause can affect sleep, mood, periods, hot flushes, sexual health, weight, energy and general wellbeing. We can help you understand what is happening, discuss treatment options, and consider whether menopause hormone therapy or other supports may be suitable for you.
Book an appointment
To discuss women’s or reproductive health, please book an appointment with one of our GPs.
Some concerns may need a longer consultation, especially if you would like to discuss several issues, contraception procedures, menopause, pelvic pain, mental health or complex symptoms. If you are unsure what appointment type to book, please call our reception team and we can help guide you.
